Case Study: Decolorization Treatment of Wastewater from a Printed Carton Manufacturing Plant
Time:
2020-12-20
Source:
The reason why printing wastewater from cardboard manufacturing plants is difficult to treat is that it exhibits very high color intensity, deep coloration, turbidity, and elevated pollutant concentrations, including a high chemical oxygen demand (COD). These characteristics, in turn, increase both the complexity of treatment and the associated costs. Given the challenges involved in treating such wastewater, stringent technical requirements must be met during the treatment process; decolorizing agents are precisely the type of water-treatment chemicals that can satisfy these requirements.
Process for treating cardboard factory printing wastewater using a decolorizing agent:
First, perform the beaker test:
1. Take 100 mL of wastewater from the cardboard box factory and place it in a glass beaker.
2. Add a specified amount of Beijingshi decolorizing agent to the wastewater beaker, then stir thoroughly until uniform.
Note: (In this stage, proper adjustment of the wastewater pH is crucial—it not only ensures the stability of the entire pretreatment process but also enhances treatment efficiency, enabling compliant effluent discharge while reducing the dosage of decolorizing agents and lowering the overall cost of printing wastewater treatment.)
3. Allow to stand for several tens of seconds; visible cotton-like flocs will form.
4. Allow to stand for 1 minute to achieve sludge–water separation in the wastewater treatment process.
5. At this point, the supernatant in the upper portion is treated, clean water, while the lower portion consists of settled sludge and impurities.
